Week Twenty-two

I had training for work yesterday morning so couldn't attend my typical WW meeting. I went on Wednesday night instead and... my weight was exactly the same. Can we say plateau? Oh well. The lady who weighed me in discussed it with me and gave me some things to try but I'm going on vacation tomorrow and am throwing my tracker out the window for the week. It's also my birthday on Wednesday and since I only get one every four years I should be allowed to eat what I want, right? I forgot to take a photo again, but promise lots from my trip this week.

I don't know if I posted this last week or not (I posted pretty quickly) but I am headed to California tomorrow morning. I'm going to fly into Ontario and check out a grad school close by then head into LA for a little. After I'm done there I'll drive (I'm renting a car) up the coast and stay with my brother and his family until Thursday afternoon. It should be fun. I have the whole week off. I'm in desperate need of a vacation and I'm way excited, except that I'm flying out at 6 AM tomorrow (which is why I'm posting this so much earlier than usual).

As I mentioned in the first paragraph, Wednesday is my birthday. I am turning 28, yikes. And yes I am actually going to be 28, it will be my 7th birthday but I am really 28. Unfortunately I continue to age every year just like everyone else. One of my friends who just turned 29 posted this on her blog and I thought I would do it as well. Thirty things you want to accomplish by the time you turn thirty. This will give me an extra year so hopefully I can get them all done. Here is my list:

1. Go to Grad School
2. Go to New York
3. See the Yankees play in Yankee stadium
4. Learn how to knit using four needles at once
5. Finally run a 5K
6. Have a relationship
7. Move out of my parent’s house, again
8. Reach my goal weight
9. Knit a sweater
10. Do family history
11. Do temple work for my family
12. Get an iPhone
13. Get a manicure
14. See a Broadway musical
15. Give up soda
16. Drive up the coast of California
17. Build up my arm strength enough to do real push ups
18. Do a temple session in every temple in Utah
19. Go mountain biking with my brother again and not want to kill myself
20. Try skiing again
21. Go golfing, real golfing not mini
22. Catch a Spring Training game
23. Quit playing Bejeweled Blitz
24. Overcome some of my fears and insecurities
25. Pay off credit card debt
26. Do my visiting teaching on a monthly basis
27. Visit San Diego
28. Visit San Francisco (the four hours I’m going to spend there on Thursday don’t count)
29. Buy a leather jacket
30. Make eggplant Parmesan

Here's to being great at 28! Okay that was way cheesy, sorry about that...

Week Twenty-one

I worked out this past week, TWICE! Did the scale show it? Nope! Well maybe it did, it's hard to say... I didn't lose anything at all but I also didn't gain at all. I stayed exactly the same. Which is better than gaining for sure. We had a Zumba night for Relief Society on Wednesday and it was so much fun! I love Zumba! The lady that taught us teaches early morning Zumba which is totally free so I may check it out... The drawback is that it's at 5:30 AM.

I loved the way I felt afterward so much that I hopped on the treadmill the next night. It was awesome. I was on for about 50 minutes and never ran but walked briskly.

But still no change in weight. Oh well. I didn't take a pic today either. I've had a bad headache the past couple of days and haven't done a whole lot. I had purchased a Groupon a while ago for services at the Paul Mitchell school so thought I'd go have my hair recolored... Due to still having many different colors in my hair from when I tried to bleach it myself last May, they thought it called for a color correction and put four different colors in my hair, horizontally. It's all the same color now but that's what it took. It also took FOUR hours! I wanted someone to shoot me! I already had a headache and that was just torturous! I like the color now but she did a terrible job on the cut so I'll probably go to a real salon and have them fix it. I'm heading out to California next week to check out grad schools and can't be looking like this.

Week Twenty

Wow, twenty weeks! Can you believe it? I lost 2.8 pounds this week which brings my total weight loss to 35 pounds so far. Awesome! And I've received many compliments lately on how good I look. What's funny is that this is the weight I was when I joined Weight Watchers six years ago. Oh well. Better late than never I guess! I took a photo this week but I didn't have a chance to clean the mirror first, so I apologize for that... It's also slightly blurry but I was in kind of a hurry...

Once I reach my goal, I will have to do a side by side of when I started. It's fun to look now and see that I do look different. The skirt that I wore to church (what I'm wearing in the photo) was one I bought a while ago and couldn't fit into (I actually ripped the slit in the back a little when I tried it on) but now it's almost too big. Love it! I'm going to have to start buying some new clothes here pretty soon.

On to the grad school application... I think I am now DONE with my personal statement. I'm going to have a couple more people look at it and then submit it. I'm also going to email my old boss right after I post this. ALMOST THERE! YAY! I found another program to apply to in case I don't get into the original one. I may apply to four and hope that one accepts me. This week it will happen!!! Yay for positive progress!

Week Nineteen

I woke up this morning and couldn't stand to swallow... My throat was sore, AGAIN. I am getting yet another cold!!! I swear, I get one a month it seems! GRRR!!! Dang kids are going to kill me, literally! So I went back to bed, which means no picture. No worries though, I only lost .8 lbs this week so I pretty much look the same.

I don't quite have my statement of purpose done but I'm close! My dear friend Arlee is helping me tweak it. She helps high school students apply to college and I'm thinking the personal statements are all pretty much the same thing. I actually came up with an awesome paragraph on Friday night (it's safe to say my decent into spinster hood is complete!) and all I need to do now is rearrange it a little. YAY! I thought the GRE would be the difficult part of all this... BUT I'm almost done! HOORAY! This week for sure!

I'm beginning to suspect that I am gluten sensitive... Bah! Not the good stuff! I've already figured out that I'm a little lactose intolerant but am suspecting there is more I can no longer stomach... I looked at gluten free stuff at the store yesterday and it was way too expensive to purchase just yet. Maybe next pay check...
