Week Thirty-two

This week I began my training at the temple which is three Wednesday nights in a row and working my Saturday shift (10:20-4:40). I lift weights on Thursday nights with Ryan so I was planning to go to WW on Wednesday nights, but I have the temple training, so I decided I could go weigh in only on Saturday morning at 7:30 and once temple training is over, be able to attend the meeting as well on Wednesday nights. But even though I have been unable to attend a meeting in a couple of weeks now, I still lost 1.6 pounds. Which is a little more than what I gained last week so I am now down to a weight I haven't weighed since this weight loss journey began. YAY! That brings my grand total to 37.2 pounds lost so far. I've been missing at least one weight lifting session each week too so who knows, it could be muscle mass lost.

Now on to the other news I was too sick to type about last week. I  had my phone interview with Loma Linda two or three weeks ago (I can't remember). For those that don't know, I had applied to Loma Linda University's Master of Public Health Nutrition program. Part of their lengthy application process is the telephone interview. Mine didn't start out well. I had managed to squeeze an hour and a half break from my boss, who originally wanted to only give me an hour much earlier in the day. But I still had about 45 minutes so I figured it would be okay. Oh but she didn't have the proper paperwork with her and the secretary had gone home for the day. So she had to go print things out and call me back... I waited for a while and then decided I should go back to work and have my interview there but she called as soon as I had decided that. The interview wasn't any better. I don't have all the pre-req's done, which on their website it says is fine, but she says it's not fine and feels that an MPH in Health Promotion and Education would be more suited for my background. Which sort of makes sense, since my undergrad was in Health Promotion and Education but I don't want a Master's in the exact same thing as my Bachelors. We'll forget the fact that there are no jobs in that field for a second and just focus on the fact that I want to learn new things, not what I've already learned. So I asked if I could withdraw my application, she told me not to do that but think about it. I told her I'd think about it and get back to her. I get off the phone and start to tell my mom about it but then she calls back again. She said she reread my application and decided that I really wanted to do nutrition so she's going to recommend me for acceptance but she wants me to work on the pre-reqs. At this point I needed to head back to work so I finished the interview on the drive back.

I've been incredibly torn as to what decision to make until this interview... Now I know and will share with all of you, yes the two of you that read this. I am going back to the University of Utah starting this summer with some online courses and will begin to take the pre-reqs I need for their accelerated nursing program. I've thought about it so many times before but have finally decided to do it. It should only take me about a year to get all the pre-reqs out of the way and then the program itself takes about a year. Yay for decisions!
